Spawn Design is a Queensland product design consultancy. We turn ideas into products that can actually be manufactured, and we do it with local suppliers wherever possible.

Our company

We work across two divisions.

D@GM handles new product development, from early concept through to production-ready design.

Spawn Design develops and supplies products manufactured in Australia, filling gaps left by overseas supply chains.

Between them we cover the full journey: concept, design, engineering, and manufacture.

Our approach

We design for manufacture from day one. That means fewer components, lower tooling costs, simpler assembly, and products that are easier to maintain once they are in the field.

Most of what we make ends up somewhere demanding. A wash plant. A rooftop. A secure entry point. So we design for the conditions first and worry about the rest after.

Our Team

Greg Meyer

Greg has thirty years in design. He is a Fellow of the Design Institute of Australia, recognised for outstanding achievement in the profession, and an Australian Defence Force veteran. His work spans retail, consumer, household, building services, industrial, defence, banking, security, processing, mining and leisure, as a product developer, marketer, business development manager and sales engineer. He has always designed and made in Australia. The reasoning is simple. Build something the local industry can support, then take it to the world.

Technical Director

Allana Meyer

Allana Meyer is an experienced stylist and educator. Having studied literature and interior design, Allana went on to excel as a junior school educator. She has also worked in styling and leadership roles for major corporations, including IKEA, David Jones and Freedom Furniture.

As a Director of Gregory Meyer Industrial Design, Allana oversees the financial aspects of the business and provides corporate governance and strategic oversight.

Dr Natalie Wright

Operations & Design Manager

Dr Natalie Wright FDIA is an award-winning Australian interior designer, academic, design advocate, DIA Board Member and Fellow. In 2024, she received the IDEA Gold Medal for her enduring contribution to Australian design culture.

Her career spans more than two decades of design practice across Australia, Japan and the United Kingdom, alongside over 30 years in tertiary education. She has also led more than 60 award-winning community engagement and design immersion programs.

Dr Wright works part-time as Spawn’s Operations and Project Manager.

Working locally

We collaborate with Queensland suppliers, fabricators, toolmakers, machinists, printing hubs, design studios, universities and NATA certified labs.

It means shorter lead times, fewer surprises, and the ability to walk into a workshop and solve a problem in person.
